The proposal of girlfriends past

I'm realizing now that I never did a post of my trip to Moab, Utah a few weeks ago with some girlfriends...I'll have to correct that situation in the near future.  Anyway, a few weeks ago I went on this quick weekend trip to Moab with two girlfriends, Kara and Trisha.  One of the two nights we stayed in a hotel.

We ended up  watching Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. 

Golly, what to say.  It was ridiculous and cheezy and without many redeeming qualities but I did get a little teary in one section.  Hey, I have emotional episodes from time to time...But that aside, I recommend that you DO NOT SEE IT.  A quote from a New York Times review is all I'll offer, it's "a junky-looking romantic comedy that’s neither remotely romantic nor passably comic."

Moving on, my man was out of town for a night last week and I took the opportunity to waste time watching another pretty bad movie: The Proposal. I don't know why I selected this movie, except that it looked like junk food for the brain and I craved some junk food.

The movie is about "A pushy boss [Sandra Bullock] forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada."  Although I generally disliked the film, the one part that I did enjoy was where Sandra B's character said that her first concert was Rob Base and DJ Ez Rock and went on to sing a bit of "It takes two." 



I think I liked that part because it was so out of character.  But I guess, truth be told, I do like watching movies where women, for better or worse, kick ass and take names.  I think in "real life" it doesn't happen that often.  Sandra Bullock's character wasn't a far cry from the Oscar-winning character she played in The Blind Side.  I liked that character even more. All that said, I do not recommend watching this movie either.

Simon's Cat

Of course, after watching U900 on youtube the other night, I got totally sucked in.  I came across "Simon's Cat."  I watched all there was to see and then remembered that someone sent me the video below some time ago.  It was just as amusing the second time.

Look out, I've found another cute thing but this one involves music!  Ok, I know this cute stuff isn't exactly adult and but, damn it, we all have to be adult all day long and we deserve amusement. Well actually I guess some people don't have to be adult very much - it depends on one's occupation and disposition.  Anyway, behold something that I got a kick out of but at least one person I know was just mildly amused by: U900.

More evidence of my exciting life: I found some funny shit on youtube. Yeah, I know I'm not alone but I mean LOL kind of funny, which is rare for me. Sure, I chuckle quite a bit and think to myself "that's funny" often but don't regularly laugh out loud at things. That said, I laughed at this:

The Annoying Thing

This is horrible - I'm warning you, do not watch it. I've got the ring-ding-ding-a-ding-ding-a-ding bit stuck in my head.

So, here we are, in September. September is a lovely month, not my absolute favorite, but it's a good one. The seas of work have calmed for a bit and I actually got out of the office for knitting on the plaza today. On a bench, under a tree it was so nice with the leaves on the trees rustling in the wind and the people going by and I got lucky - no smokers came to the benches upwind of me! I think I appreciate the slow (a.k.a. regular) pace of work after the big storms come through.

I was just reading Best Friends magazine and apparently now is a good time to adopt a dog from a shelter. It seems that across the nation there are more animals being dropped off with the bad economy and people losing their homes and so on. Actually, I just checked out the Dumb Friends League website and if you've ever wanted to adopt a mouse - now is the time! There are lots of them and you can browse on-line! They also have cats and dogs and rabbits and rats and guinea pigs. The rodent pictures are somewhat amusing. I love that they actually photo everyone of them. What's also kind of funny is that the cat pictures have this gray cloth backdrop - very professional. But really, if I could adopt every one of them I would and I'm glad that they League has a great (if amusing) website.

I find myself somewhat brain dead at the end of the day sometimes. When I realize this is when I realize I have been watching youtube for about 30 minutes. Tonight's youtube exploration is typical: I'm caught in a string of kitten videos.
